Waldeck was appointed to undertake the civil and structural engineering design duties on a £1.2m project to provide affordable homes in Peterborough city centre.

The former brown field site was previously a car park and the scheme was part of a local regeneration plan.

The attractive development comprised 13 affordable homes all constructed to Level 3 Code for Sustainable Homes standard. The project was completed on schedule in December 2009.

Innovation

On this brown field site the optimising of cut and fill to retain material on site using our 3D Ground Modelling software came to the fore. Drainage modelling was also important in negotiations with the Environment Agency to verify the re-use of once abandoned historic drainage outfalls, saving the client tens of thousands of pounds by not having to install a full green field attenuation system.
