Project overview
The new High Road development in Finchley, Greater London comprised of a five-storey mixed-use development, consisting of four ground floor commercial units and 60 residential units occupying the remaining floors.
Our solution
Waldeck were appointed to provide the client with energy strategy proposals to ensure an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM and ‘Code for Sustainable Homes’ rating. Strategies modelled include the use of high efficiency lighting, daylighting and presence control, glazing options including solar control methods, natural ventilation vs mechanical vent strategies, central community heating systems and incorporation of renewable technologies including biomass and PV.
The Results
We worked closely with our client to identify their management procedures for metering and charging for energy use from tenants. We identified the best use of low and zero carbon technologies energy generation on site, to suit both the tenants and the client as landlord for the build.
