Project overview
The HMP Thameside new custodial facility comprised of working within a live Cat B Male Prison which involved the construction of a new build four-storey pre-cast modular accommodation block.
The Solution
Working in collaboration with contractors, Waldeck were responsible for the full detailed design of the pre-cast cross wall structure. By collaborating with the M&E contractor Waldeck were able to incorporate conduits into pre-cast walls and slabs to keep all services hidden, which was crucial for staff and inmate safety, as well as speeding up the construction process and reduced the time spent on-site fitting out the Mechanical and Electrical services for the project.
Through our extensive experience in the defence sector, Waldeck developed an innovative solution which comprised of using double walls large enough to cover two cells, reducing the number of casts and lifts required which in turn reduced production and site erecting time.
