Bombardier are building a depot which will be able to accommodate up to 33 new build 200m-long trains while routine maintenance is carried out. Bombardier will manufacture and assemble the trains at their Derby plant.
Our solution
Our team is reviewing and commenting on all designs being produced for the depot. Our responses form part of the assurance case for Crossrail and Transport for London. Bombardier contacted Waldeck to provide this service due to our in-depth knowledge of depots and their design. This knowledge has proved invaluable to the technical review service being provided as we have the correct experience to review and challenge designs where required.
The design review follows a strict compliance procedure, with designs being reviewed and commented upon within a 10 day period. Inter-disciplinary reviews are also attended. All comments are logged and followed up with the main contractor to ensure a satisfactory discharge of any issues raised by the Waldeck team.
The Results
Waldeck are providing regular site attendance to be the ‘eyes and ears’ for Bombardier as work progresses on site. On completion, the depot will be able to accommodate up to 33 new build 200m-long trains while routine maintenance is carried out.
