Project Overview
One of Europe’s leading real estate and development companies, Hammersons, appointed Waldeck to work on the £11million extension at Queensgate Shopping Centre, Peterborough in order to create room for retail giant, Primark. The 60,000ft² store is one of the largest units in the centre.
The development consisted of a complex of brick clad buildings and features a 150-bedroom hotel, 190 new apartments and 350m² of office space.
Our solution
Our team were appointed to undertake the Civil and Structural Engineering work on the project, from the feasibility through to the detailed design stage.
Our team worked closely with Hammersons over several years with the re-development and restructuring of Queensgate to modify the retail space into a modern and contemporary environment.
The results
The 60,000 ft² Primark store required the remodelling of several smaller stores on order to form one large, suitable unit over two floors. This allowed the creation of one of the largest units within the Queensgate Shopping Centre.
