John began his impressive career in bridge engineering in 1974 and worked as a bridge engineer for over a decade until 1985. Throughout this time, he gained invaluable experience on many iconic bridge projects, including Westgate Bridge, Melbourne, the Humber Suspension Bridge and Breydon Bridge, Great Yarmouth.
His specialism lies in steel bridge structures, a field in which he excelled while working for Redpath Dorman Long, a subsidiary of British Steel Corporation.
Since then, John has worked on a diverse range of structures across major infrastructure for the rail, ports, energy and utilities industries. John’s detailed knowledge of the structural uses of steel, concrete, aluminium and timber, this knowledge allied to John’s commercial focus ensures the provision of the best possible engineering design solutions.
John’s credentials speak to his dedication and expertise, as a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers and a Member of the European Federation of Engineering Institutions.
When asked about what excites him most in his work, John is passionate about the innovation involved in modern bridge projects:
“The best part of bridge engineering is that you’re always pushing the boundaries of technology,” he explains. His career is a testament to the ever-evolving nature of engineering and the need for constant evolution to be ‘best-in-class’.
