Team members George Naylor, Ben Preece, Matthew Richardson, Nicholas Murdoch, Luke Damon, and their dedicated driver Ian Taylor began their mission at 4:45 pm in Scotland, tackling the tallest peak in the UK with Ben Nevis. The team then travelled south to climb Scafell Pike in England, before finishing with Snowdon in Wales. The team completed the challenge with an impressive 44 minutes to spare.
Their chosen charity, St Luke’s Sheffield Hospice, is an amazing independent charity that provides care for terminally ill adults and their families across the Sheffield region.
Principle Electrical Design Engineer, George Naylor shared:
“I am proud to be part of the team that completed the National Three Peaks Challenge. It was an amazing couple of days. We had brilliant weather, which made it easier to find the routes, but the heat made the walking tough.
Setting off from Wasdale Head at 2:45 a.m. to attempt Scafell Pike, equipped with head torches, was surreal — but we were lucky enough to see the sunrise from the summit. The views were breathtaking.
At Snowdon, we were grateful to have Adam Machan, Craig Harrison, and Jackson Lambert join us. We always knew it was going to be a tough challenge, but there was added pressure knowing it was Waldeck’s third attempt to complete it within 24 hours.
We managed to finish in 23 hours and 16 minutes, which we celebrated in true Waldeck M&E style — with a couple of beers at the Snowdon Youth Hostel.
We’re all very grateful for the sponsorship; it’s all for a very good cause.”
A huge congratulations to the group for completing this tough challenge.
